Maybe a solution is to open up the payment process to more leasing companies? If competition exists, there will be more pressure to control costs and keep prices keen. It’s why the big leasing companies pay everyone what they can get away with while Motability can cherry pick off high wages and luxurious benefits package. Image how they’d fare if the 4 biggest leasing companies could suddenly enter a 880,000 customer market. There’d be offers galore, if they can get close to Motability prices with all the VAT they have to pay, imagine how they’d go on a level playing field.

I’ve been saying all of this for years.

We’re definitely off the scheme when the current lease ends next year. We won’t terminate early as there’s no point. Been looking today, thinking of an EV from Hyundai or Kia with the long warranty, can probably stretch to around £25k for a 2 year old used but keep it 5 years. We’ll then have equity to change a bit more frequently or drive it into the ground and pocket the PIP.
