    As for getting to contract end and people finding they owe money. Whatever happened to taking personal responsibility by saving up during the lease to pay what they know will eventually be owing. It is madness to do anything else, or will people let it become someone else’s problem?

    What would be interesting, is hearing off those with little money, because I imagine many of them would prfer to budget upfront, without the temptation of dipping in a saving pot for say a new washing machine and come unstuck at the end of the lease.

    So in that sense what @Glos-Guy suggests is a good idea, but I will take it a step further, as Motability will be aware that some scheme users live day by day and say there should be some sort of payment plan put in place.
