@LUFC You obviously thought that something was off or you wouldn’t have asked the question. We are all giving the same answer. Motability do not pay for dash cams and boot liners and, as you say, being an EV, it doesn’t need fuel.

You cannot go by the invoice as it’s meaningless. It’s just a notational piece of paper for your reference and has no resemblance to the actual deal with Motability Operations. It shows VAT being added (which Motability doesn’t pay) and doesn’t show the discount that Motability will have negotiated. I have just negotiated a 16% discount on a new car (on top of the VAT and VED discount) and that’s just one individual and an ICE car. EV’s are being sold at even bigger discounts and. with Motability’s huge negotiating power, I suspect that they will be getting at least 25% discount, on top of the VAT and VED exemption.

Unfortunately, some dealers try to add extras, such as paint protection treatments, in order to to boost their margins, and if you don’t want them you tell them you are not interested and to remove them from the invoice. I suspect that’s what’s happened here. Don’t be lured into thinking that because the AP shown is correct that means that they won’t charge you for other options. That’s not how it works. Optional extras always show as extra and separate costs to the AP and, as I have said, what you have posted isn’t the true invoice.

If you remain convinced that Motability are paying for these things for you, I strongly suggest that you get the supplying dealer to confirm that for you now, so that you don’t have any nasty surprises on collection day. If they ask for the additional cost of these extras on pickup day you can obviously get them to remove the fuel charge (as it won’t have had any) and tell them to remove the boot liner, but the dashcam will be less straightforward if it’s wired in. Better to get 100% clarity at this stage than have the handover marred by an argument.

Do let us know how you get on. It’s always irritating when people post questions, we give answers to help the person, and they never post back to say what the result was. Motability are cutting back on what the scheme offers, so if you become the first person to have non-disability related accessories supplied free of charge then that will be good news that we’d like to hear!
