    Yes but if buying your own EV would you I am thinking not as said there are not many petrols and certainly not any diesels left or big engined cars if you can list some Automatic large engined petrols pray do tell me.

    It is indeed true that the average EV depreciates by far more than the average ICE car. Consumers don’t want used EVs, so their values have plummeted, whereas used ICE car values are holding up far better as people look to keep them longer.

    However, whilst an EV doesn’t interest me (even though I could charge at home), there’s no denying that they make a compelling proposition for Motability customers who can charge at home and don’t do regular long journeys. As a Motability customer, you are shielded from the crippling depreciation, the high insurance costs, potential high repair costs (in an accident) and, of course, you get a free charger. If low running costs were my priority when choosing a car (which they aren’t) and I could convince myself that I’d like an EV (I can’t – yet), then I’d definitely look to Motability. The big stumbling point at present is that there aren’t any cars left on the scheme that even remotely appeal – but that’s the case with all cars of all types, not just EV’s!
