1. You have to obtain a permission from Motability. Just give them a call.
2. You should have your personal number plate’s certificate (I presume you have).
3. You need to inform the dealer and insist the dealer will apply the new number plate (for a standard cost of £85).
4. When the vehicle arrives to the dealership they will fix your number plate, not the one which came with the car. So in theory there are two vehicles in the country with the same number plate, but it permitted.
I would insist to escalate the matter within the dealership or call another branch and asking how to do it. And then go back to yours and explain the steps.
In many cases you will find people are either incompetent in what they are doing or don’t want to be proactive.
Either way, the above is based on my personal experience and never failed me.
