2 weeks can be normal. Not great, but nothing you could do other than phoning around to see if another location has the glass in stock (unlikely with a brand new model).
Now, driving. Cars nowadays are stiff, so it shouldn’t get bigger in normal driving (unless plenty of potholes or up and down kerbs) – the main issue is, that it’d be illegal. I think 40mm or something is fine when out of view, but 9 inches definitely isn’t.
Just gotta hope that police turns a blind eye. Personally, i would probably drive, given no alternative. I’d ask MB if you could have a hire for the time, but failing that.. yeah, i’d probably drive too for the necessities.
Sucks, but not much one can do – way too large for chip repair, just gotta cross your fingers, restrict to driving only the absolutely needed journeys, and get it done in two weeks. In my opinion.
