Make sure you have a good drive in both before deciding.
We had an XC40 from 2020 to 2024, and it was one of the most comfortable cars we’ve ever had. The suspension soaked up all kinds of bumps and the car was very refined. Fuel economy was not great, so take this into account if you’re a high mileage driver.
One of the cars we discounted before opting for the XC40 was the BMW X1 20i.
We found the road noise intrusive and the suspension too firm for our liking but each to their own.
The XC40 is getting on a bit now whereas the X1 has had numerous updates. So the test drives are important.
