Far better to stick with a petrol / diesel or self charging hybrid if you can’t charge at home. If you have to rely solely on public chargers it could well end up costing you more per mile than you are paying now and you will have all the hassle of the charging. At present, EVs (and even PHEVs) only really make sense if you can charge at home. One of my nephews got an EV and cannot charge at home and he now deeply regrets it and will be reverting to petrol when his lease ends.
