Yes, bizarrely the fancy paint will cost less to look after. What you can use is what they call a hydrophobic coating. Many come in polishes but some are just that and Halfords have one you can put in a foam bottle for a pressure washer and simply spray on, rinse off and the car beads like it’s got a posh polish. I think it’s an autoglym one.
I wash and protect mine just through the washer as I can’t bend and apply pressure to hand wash, it’s a great way of controlling what touches the paint.
