Thanks for your replies. This is my first electric car and I have a bit of range anxiety. I expect electric cars to get more powerful over time and I would like to future proof it is possible for a few hundred quid extra. Otherwise I will need to get another charger in a few years when I get something else.
Do you know who your DNO is?
Give them a ring and say your planning on having your first EV charger installed and would like to know, if there is 3 phase in your street, would a upgrade to 3 phase be free if having your first charger installed or chargeable. Your DNO can also point you to a form to fill in if interested, which is best done by an electrician if your unsure.
Dependant on whether or not you have 3 phase in your street, the work involved, it can cost upto £3500 plus vat if your DNO suggests the work is chargeable.
