We have a plastic consumer box with no spare trip socket (the box is 22 years old so not that old really), do you think this means we are likely to need a pay for a non standard installation or a new metal box? I expect others on here have some experience of this. thanks
Your meter tails going from the meter to consumer unit will be split using a special junction box known as Henley blocks. From their a new set of tails will be used to supply a dedicated consumer unit for the charger.
