Yup. Mark its a steep learning curve. Trying 2 charging points an failed miserably. The first one, you needed a card. Moved on to an instavolt…great it accepts swipe…done that then pulled out the charging pistol, it couldnt reach the port. I installed the app for the first charger, and it charged fine. 30 mins and charged it to 88%. Right next to a Starbucks…lol. It just keeps you on your toes, new technology…lol.

Even the process for contactless payments are different, some you plug in first, some swipe first.  Adoption would be much easier if you didn’t have to have 25 apps and understand 13 different payment processes just to charge your car.  Even worse, there’s discount cards, from manufacturers and from 3rd parties, but none for absolutely all providers, so do you stop on your route and pay by contactless or go 5 miles out of your way to save 5p per kWh?

It’s all frustrating but it’s a massive improvement on motorway services having 2 stations that may/may not work and nothing else around for miles.

All that said, I love the ease of driving electric, I know the next car will be electric and I will do my level best to ensure every car after that will also be electric.  New ranges mean I don’t have to worry so desperately about where I charge, looking at what I can realistically get from the Ioniq 5 or 6 or the Enyaq, they’ll all be able to drive much further than I can in one go.  From where I am in Cornwall, I’m desperate to get out by the time I get to Exeter, again 2 hours later and, if the journey is long enough, 2 hours after that, the car could pretty much get to London in one hit or near enough.

I'm Autistic, if I say something you find offensive, please let me know, I can guarantee it was unintentional.
I'll try to give my honest opinion but am always open to learning.
