The change to the taxation class of your private vehicle has to be initiated by you. It doesn’t happen automatically. Simply collect your new car and when you are back home commence the procedure to remove the exemption from your private vehicle. Alternatively, if it’s worrying you, as tax runs in whole months, you could commence the removal of the exemption from your current car on 1st October.

The new car comes with breakdown cover, but the car is also supported by Motability’s ‘RAC Assist’. I assume that the breakdown cover which comes with the new car is trumped by RAC assist?
