From my council regards kerbocharge. A real shame.
I do have a drive and an electric charger so arguably it’s moot but it’s such a good idea.
Dear Mr Surname,
Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding the installation of a charging point at your property.
After receiving several enquiries regarding Electric vehicles (EV) charging, a new webpage has been created, which can be viewed here:
https://www.leicestershire.gov.uk/roads-and-travel/cars-and-parking/electric-vehicles-ev
The webpage also includes a link to Zap-map which displays a map with the locations and providers of available charge-points, the type of charge, its availability and utilisation fee (if applicable).
As you may be aware the issues arising with growing demand for Electric Vehicles and the associated infrastructure are still being understood by the authority as we are very keen to support but there are some practical issues and liabilities we are still working through. Unfortunately at this time the Highway Authority cannot currently approve or authorise trailing cables across or in the highway.
We do appreciate that encouraging and supporting owners of electric vehicles is important and are in the process of understanding the recent ‘Taking charge: the electric vehicle infrastructure strategy’ (available here) and hope to be in a position to offer more positive solutions in the near future.
We appreciate this response will be disappointing but hope it provides some clarity.
Kind regards
Government Droid #675
