Continuously variable transmission. It is infamous for its “elastic band effect”

This elastic/rubber band effect occurs when you floor the throttle or demand quick acceleration the revs will climb higher vehicle than the vehicle accelerates. There is no sudden surge of torque, or does the engine utilises its full power potential. Hower CVT transmission is more economical. However CVT boxes have imprved over the years.

Like Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) isn’t without it faults. It can be hesitant pulling away from a standstill and can lag on change of gear.

None are without heir inherint faults and have improved over recent years, however I personally prefer DCT 🙂
