Another way of looking at it you go out and buy the cheapest midrange Iphone I think is around £450 you keep it 5-6 yrs and it breaks or develops a fault. Like wise you buy a mid range android keep it 5-6 years and it breaks or develops a fault (easier to repair) yoi can bin it and go out and by another that will last another 5yrs forthe same price of the one Iphone.
The problem with apple is they have no competition to drive down prices, unlike android where companies are fighting for the best spot at the best price.
