I am hoping some kind person can give me some guidance. I have not yet used a public charging point, only charging at home and it fills me with dread. I have now got a Myhyundai RFID card but still do not know which chargers I can use or how to use them. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated as I have to make some long journeys in the new year and will need to charge somewhere.
Hi Neville, you’ll find some sound advice on the speakEV forum which has a whole section devoted to charging and you’ll be able to ask questions to a much wider EV audience.
You can find a map of chargers where you can use your MyHyundai card on their website hyundai.co.uk under the heading ‘Charge My Hyundai’
My advice would be;
1. Have a trial run at a public charge point close to where you live to get a feel for the process.
2. Get another RFID card from a provider such as Octopus Electric Universe Juice card as an alternative if your Hyundai card or Debit Card don’t work.
3. Plan your journey carefully using a route planner such as Zap-Map or ABRP (A Better Route Planner)
4. Always have a ‘plan B’ should your chosen charger be unavailable/broken, and ensure that you have enough range left to reach it.
5. Don’t be afraid to ask for advice if you do have any difficulty – most EV drivers will be only happy to help out.
Hope that helps.
