@DJP when I test drove the HEV I achieved 40.9mpg in similar driving conditions. My mostly short journeys include lots of stop-start driving (junctions, traffic lights) which is where the more electrified cars do well. I just wish there had been a MHEV to test drive. I was only 2-3 days late in ordering the HEV.
I’ve just sold my Golf which would have achieved around 40mpg in similar journeys. On motorways it was achieving 55mpg when travelling 70mph and if there were a few stretches of 50mph roadworks it was well over 60mpg.
I’ve filled up today with Premium unleaded. Hopefully the engine will loosen up and give me a few more mpg. I was so close to cancelling the order many times, but then I’d read comments on forums stating fairly good mpg.
