ok, update time lol. finished the last of the rotavating and raked it reasonably flattish and sowed the wildflower and grass seeds and got the netting up to stop the birds feasting just before the thunderstorms came and dumped about 3 months rain in 12 hrs.
since then its been perfect, a days rain followed by a few sunny days then more rain,almost perfect.
today i have removed the netting and i reckon it will work.
and the roses doing ok
