I’m still waiting for my licence from the DVLA. My medical licence expired in August. I sent the forms back to them, they said they now need to contact my neurologist and diabetes doctors etc.

Visited the hospital last month and saw my doctors who said I’m good to drive and all DVLA forms have been filled in and sent back to them.

DVLA say they are yet to be received and scanned into the system.

I am ordering my car on the 24th but as I have an expired licence I doubt I’ll be able to do this unless I go through the route of my brother coming with me and saying he’ll be driving it.

DVLA sent me a letter saying under section 88 driving act I can still drive as long as doctors have advised me not to drive.

Am I right in saying I won’t be able to put my name on the insurance despite having the DVLA section 88 letter?

Also, it’s a pain the the butt to get hold of the DVLA. I usually call another department in the DVLA and then ask to be transferred to medical. Works every time and instead of telling you they are too busy to take the call it actually adds you to the queue.
