I think it is incredible that AP have risen so much in the last couple of years. I’m not here to judge who can and can’t afford AP and what car they should be getting. Seems as though there is a public outcry at Electricity, Gas and train fares amongst others going up and rightly so but Motability customers are expected to sit back and do nothing about the massive increase in prices. My Kuga cost £1749 in Q2 and is now £2200. I feel sorry for anyone ordering at the moment. When will the price increases stop?
I agree. For those who are in the financial position to look elsewhere, the combination of rising AP’s and ever decreasing choice means that Motability is becoming less and less attractive. The sad fact is that the majority of Motability customers probably aren’t in a position to explore other options and are therefore trapped.
It’s easy to lose sight of the scale of these AP increases as we talk £ rather than percentages, but the AP on your Kuga has increased by 26% in a matter of months. I hadn’t realised until a few days ago that the X1 that we took delivery of a few months ago has gone up by £500, which is an 18% increase. We had contemplated extending our last lease but it would have been a huge mistake if we had. In just a matter of months since we ordered, costs have gone up, choice has gone down and lead times have got ridiculous – and that’s pretty much across the board.
