Leaving politics aside (as people can argue anything based on their political allegiance or hatred), I would like to know what HGV drivers actually earn. I’ve heard loads of sob stories that they are only earning circa £20-25k, but the BBC said the other day that the ‘average’ HGV driver earns £50k and one milk distribution company is paying their drivers £78k. You’d think that people in much lower paid jobs would be stampeding to become lorry drivers if these figures are true?
