Brexit is a main contributor. Even paying higher wages doesn’t magically create a workforce, that takes years. In the past we had access to a massive labour pool. Now we do not. Wages aren’t created in a vacuum. Higher drivers wages because of a Brexit induced shortage will only fuel inflation and lead to higher pay for all drivers. That in turn will put up all wages since we measure ourselves against others. More inflation. It’s not just drivers, every sort of job that could be filled by European workers is gone now. Why are there no shortages of fuel in NI…why because it has EU rules. Here’s drinking to a Brexit Christmas, shortages of everything, at least the hard up, hit by universal credit cuts wont be tempted by shelves of goodies, didn’t we just give hundreds of millions to a US company? Perhaps the poor should call themselves bankers, then the cuts would be reversed. No one can accuse the Tories of not looking after their friends. Even the Mogg household will have a farthing for Tiny Tim.
