Apart from our very first Motability vehicle where we traded our existing car in and the AP came out of that I don’t think I’ve ever paid over £1,000 AP.
Being as I am I have a Spreadsheet with all possible vehicles and a I work out the total cost over 3 years. I include an estimated fuel cost based on the most accurate MPG I can find. Then I print out a list of vehicles in the order of the total cost and they will form the shortlist. There is a limit of £1,000 AP but if there is a vehicle that goes over the £1K AP ‘barrier’ but whose total cost over the three years is lower than one of the shortlist vehicles then it can be included.
Our latest car the Kona EV Ultimate was a ‘gift’ and will be one of the cheapest vehicles we have ever had.
