If I wasn’t on the scheme I wouldn’t be driving a brand new car.
I would still buy an EV as the only thing I’d need is an outdoor waterproof plug which I already have and I’d save a fortune on fuel costs on my commute. It wouldn’t be brand new though, up to £10k max.
Most people can’t afford a brand new car no matter how it is fueled but plenty of EV choices within my budget.
