I just don’t get how I can be told from genius that my build was definitely confirmed and have screen shots to prove that to now be told delays I will keep trying to get the person on chat again also I’m ringing me dealership on Monday had no correspondence from them at all very shocking service for a new customer like I said before vertu motors won’t be getting my custom in future I will drive hour and half to get my next car if I chose bmw again even a soap opera couldn’t write the hassle I’ve had ordering one car with no extras wouldn’t care if I wasn’t told it was confirmed that’s bit that’s bothering me might complain to bmw themselves as it was one of their people not dealership that told me

Hi Shellie – I’m certainly not trying to defend your dealer as their communication with you has been poor. However, we are in exceptional times with most car manufacturers experiencing delays in production due to the semiconductor chip shortage. This includes BMW with the X1 as one of my options was deleted because of it. Obviously I don’t know the details of your order, but I can’t help but wonder whether at the time that you were told that your order was ‘confirmed’ it was actually at BMW status 1200 (Scheduled for Production) rather than Status 5000 (Confirmed for Production – Customer Spec Locked Down) or even Status 5055 (Confirmed by Production Control). Do the screenshots that you have show which of these stages your order was at?

In my case, the dates at stage 1200 (Scheduled for Production) changed and, like you, the expected delivery date moved from end July to end Sep. It was only when my dealer emailed BMW Production Control (that might not be the exact name) that it got reinstated back to the previously scheduled build date. I was sent the response from them (which I’ve deleted now that I have the car and cannot find) where they said that they “had managed to reinstate the previously scheduled build date”. I’m just trying to help you given that I have knowledge of the intricacies of the BMW order system. Clearly your dealer hasn’t been as helpful as mine was, but by knowing the right questions to ask and how it all works (and that it can be influenced by a helpful dealer) you might be able to get somewhere. BMW Genius can’t influence anything. They will just tell you the current status, whatever that is and, as you have found out, that can change. Hope that helps.
