I’ve thought that instead of new car reviews, there should be old car reviews, and I think these are probably more important.

Knowing what you know now, would you travel back in time and warn your enthusiastic younger self away from ordering that gloriously shiny new car that you thought would be a joy to drive but turned out be awful?

My old V40 was near perfect for three years, and felt almost as good when we handed back (80k miles) as when we collected it. The only single thing I didn’t like was auto emergency stop which was occasionally super intrusive and left me thinking what the hell just happened? I did get close to the car in front but there was zero chance of an actual collision. I wanted to turn it off but wasn’t sure what the insurance implications would be in the event I actually did rear end someone.

We hand our Kuga back tomorrow. When we picked it up we definitely thought it was the best Motability vehicle we’d ever had and were pretty damn proud of it. I still enjoy driving it, but the laundry list of everything I don’t like it, it that’s gone wrong, about would require an entire threads if it’s own. I suspect that once I’ve spent a good few hours in the new car then the fond memories I do have of the Kuga are going to fade
