An arranged longish test drive…I had arranged it to coincide with the S-Max getting an MOT & some recall work done, so had at least 2 hours, the dealers called me when my car was ready to pick up. I got the Kuga at 9am and returned it at 12.30ish. I went home around 11am for a poke around the car/sit in rear etc, have a coffee, go to the loo, then off again at 12.10 on another run back to the dealers to hand it back and collect the S-Max. I then went to Dundee to test drive a Rav4 (had that for about 2 hours or so as well).

Both cars were similar, Rav4 had better seats, but poor infotainment, was noisier (wind noise around the rear) and of course, is a much higher AP. It was also very rapid & fitted with a raft of safety aids and extras that cost pretty much the AP difference.  I found the CVT gearbox was hardly intrusive (again all magazine reviews say it drones loudly etc etc), very little noise from the engine really and it did build speed very rapidly when you wanted it to. Thanks to a telematics box Toyota fit to demo cars, they give you a printout on your return. I did 49.8mpg and ran on electric or part electric for 52% of the journey.

Hard to say which was best, both had pros and cons.
