Greg D – I should have added to the positive aspects of the Kuga that the rear leg room was indeed very impressive. I am 6ft 2 and when sat behind the drivers seat (set for me) there was loads of room. Ford have clearly decided to prioritise passenger space over boot space. Given the overall size of the car, the boot was a bit tight for my wife’s wheelchair. It fitted, but only just, whereas there was plenty of room in the boot of the BMW X1 but the passenger compartment feels smaller than the Kuga.

One other thing that I forgot to say was that the sill width between the door and the seat is quite wide in the Kuga and certainly a lot wider than in the X1. This causes a problem for my wife, as she has to reverse on to the side of the seat and pivot around, lifting her legs over the sill. I didn’t notice it, being able bodied, but mention this as it will be a consideration for those with similar disabilities to my wife.
