This issue is affecting almost all manufacturers now and is getting worse, not better. I believe that Hyundai is about the only major brand unaffected, as they had the foresight to stock pile semiconductor chips. The ‘just in time’ distribution process that almost all car manufacturers use these days has fallen over spectacularly, with tiny computer chips causing delays to millions of new cars. I was talking to the Sales Manager of a Ford dealership today and he said that any orders placed now would be Nov/Dec delivery, if not next year, all because of semiconductor shortages. He also said that this problem is even bigger and more widespread than car companies are stating. They don’t want to be up front about the severe delays as it will stop new car orders.
