Thank you everyone for your helpful comments. Intranicity,  the Kona does really sound perfect in every way except for the lack of the power tailgate but as Richard says, it may be possible to have this fitted after collection of the car, assuming Motability are okay with it?. I will call them on Tuesday when they re-open to discuss it. It is something that i will look into as I’ve had quite a lot of falls due to loss of balance when loading equipment into my current car.

My Brain Injury nurse at Headway helped me to apply for financial assistance through the Motability grants team and they have offered to help towards the advance payment, which i’m very grateful for. The only requirement from them is that the electric tailgate is standard on the model that I choose, or they won’t fund it. The reason why i’m so keen to have a EV is for the running cost and environmental factors. I was told that the Mercedes EQA was going to be joining the scheme but not now, since Boris reduced the allowance.

Sorry if i’m repeating myself, or if my grammer is poor, I used to function better than this pre-stroke ha ha!

Also, If I don’t end up getting the Kona but decide on a PHEV, I hadn’t realised that I could just manage with a normal domestic socket, thanks Wigwam! I mainly make short journeys now so could be a possibility.

    Thanks, Rachel x
