It’s a tempting prospect for us too if it comes on the scheme. We’e due to change in July and would prefer to go a bit smaller but nothing inspired. I can’t get worked up about the latest displays and gadgets. The X1 has knobs and switches that work well, clear dials and a good display screen for the audio and satnav.
Out of interest, is the backlighting of the analogue instrument display in the X1 now white, including at night, rather than the trademark BMW orange? I know it sounds silly, but I hated the orange backlighting and it used to infuriate me on my 5 Series that during the day it was illuminated white yet you couldn’t configure it to stay white at night ?
Also, is there a way to display your current speed as a digital number in the dash? I drive 3 different makes of car on a regular basis and they all have it and I find it incredibly useful just to have a number showing rather than looking at dials. As my kids would say, these are all ‘first world problems’ but I’m sure that I’m not the only person who can find little things irritating ?
