Mr Wings… In the 60s, EE Lightnings used by 111sqn as Hunter replacements in RAF aerobatic team. Am old enough to have seen them at Farnborough. Eighteen RR Avons banging into reheat at the same time could knock one out of the deckchair! Beautiful aeroplane. Just missed getting a flight in one: the magazine I was going to write it up for folded!
Agree totally about the death of our industries; our criminally incompetent politicians and managers screwed up the majority, those they didn’t get were destroyed by the USA. In aviation, for example: TSR2, Supersonic Harrier, Avro Arrow (Canada suffered as well). All so we would be made to buy US products instead.
