I feel Motability must not lose sight of their core values, the National Trust did so and was criticised. High end performance cars will not return in my view as they would attract adverse publicity, which, given the tough financial times which lay ahead, would be unpalatable for Motability and attract adverse press. Nevertheless I would expect to see a good range of cars available.
I agree about high end performance cars, not least as they are impractical for most disabled drivers. However, the big cull in the choice of what was available on Motability (and the various restrictions) seemed to stem from ill informed Daily Mail articles stating that disabled drivers were getting ‘free luxury cars at the tax payers expense’. No mention of the sacrificed benefits (now almost £10k over 3 years) and the high AP’s paid. Rather than stand up for disabled drivers and correct the articles with facts, Motability rolled over and culled a lot of practical cars.
