Hello fellow members, I don’t often post on her, but I am an avid reader. We have had an petrol Octavia VRS DSG estate for the past three years and love it. The most fun car I have ever had ? . Sadly there just doesn’t seem to be anything on par that we could replace it with. So we have decided to extend for 2 years. My plan is to keep an eye out for deals coming up, both through Motability and via the ever vigilant members of this forum, but I was wondering if anybody thought it would be worth my while contacting local dealers and telling them my position and if they have anything that’s comes available, to let me know. Do they ever have ex demos, that kind of thing, that they could shift through the Motability scheme? Thanks for any advice Andy
No ‘ex demo’ vehicles as Motability insist on being the first registered keeper of their vehicles. So it is brand new, vehicles only.
If your current car suits you well, you can ask for a lease extension of upto a further two years. Motability do say you can do this if your current car has less than 15K miles on the clock, but they can be flexible about this. Also you can still change at any time during the lease extension.
A further bonus to the above is if a WPMS customer you get £7.25 per week refunded during the lease extension period. Otherwise it does give you more time to save for your next car’s advance payment if necessary.
As for contacting dealers and telling them your position, their ‘business accumen’ may be to try to push you towards vehicles they are finding hard to shift etc. Probably better to keep your cards close to your chest on that one. However keep your eyes and ears open and check out the deals sticky on this forum.
