…and the other things in the video are irrelevant, concerned only with how vehicle looks or sounds. They do not affect the enjoyable nature of the car, they just make it less yob-friendly.
I really do not understand why one would want to sit in a stationary car revving it out to the red line. The sound produced by the engine? Well as long as I can hear it to judge what it is doing, then fine. (Increasingly, cars are making their own, artificial noise, played through internal speakers. Damn silly – masks the real sound of engine and I can’t turn it off!)
If the shape of a vehicle helps avoid injury to pedestrians then fine. That said, however, the vid cites the Mini as an example of safety design messing up the looks. I think, rather, it is the manufacturer who’s done that on the Mini with non-functioning air scoops and race/rally grill styling to make it all more macho.
