The whole issue re not being allowed to hard wire your dash cams is Petty. Yes I understand the where and why.
However. It is OK to have a tow bar and electrics fitted. It;s also not problem when they want to add a “black box” to monitor the cars use in certain circumstance.
Mention Dash cam and hard wire, then it;s “how very dare you ask that question”
Now the simple solution that has already be touched on in this thread by @TomThumb. That is for car manufactures to bloody well build a USB C type plug into the mirror housing.
Its really that simple.
