Wow! What a fantastic mixture of choices. Relieved to hear that I am not the only one who can range from Herman’s Hermits to Shostakovich. (Former did some great innovative songs, latter some brilliant jazz suites and film music, The Gadfly being outstanding). Current discoveries include Barbara Dickson’s “Nothing’s Gonna Change my World covers of Beatles’ songs and Schubert’s string quartets, particularly “Death and the Maiden”. Also stumbled across a collection of Cole Porter stuff recorded in 30s and 40s. That guy could really write popular songs!
