It’s awful when the car you really wanted turns out to have the most pain-inducing seats possible, it’s the most important thing when I consider a car & I’ve rejected many many cars due to it. The most cripplingly painful cars I’ve had are the original Mini Clubman(1976), the Ford Mondeo (circa 1994), and the Toyota RAV4 (2002), yet the most comfortable have been the Ford Cortina MK1 (1966) with its sprung seats, and the Peugeot 405 (1992). Other reasonably comfortable ones have been the Citroen C4 Grand Picasso (2014) and the SEAT Alhambra (2017).

Historically the large Peugeots & Citroens have had pretty comfy seats, their smaller offerings not so much (my 1997 Peugeot 306 was a fantastic little car, but the seats aren’t brilliant, but they are OK, my son still drives this car).

As for the Golf, well, I’ve never sat in one, maybe I should borrow my nephew’s Golf, but perhaps more telling is that he’s a physiotherapist.
