So, today we went shopping and ended up next door to the KIA dealership.  Popping in was a fair trade for being dragged around all them shops😉

We sat in an EV3 Air as they didn’t have a 5 Air.  Having found a really helpful chap we discussed all our concerns about the missing features we’re usually looking for.  The EV5 tailgate is mostly composite plastics and glass which means manually opening and closing a powered tailgate was surprisingly easy despite the motors adding resistance.  We also tried an EV6 tailgate which is heavier and that’s strangely light to deal with.

Sitting in the EV3 confirmed that while it’s a decent size I couldn’t satisfactorily sit in there and drive country lanes or reverse around sharp corners, I’d be banging my elbow until the air was blue.

That extra space in the EV5 was incredible.  It’s not a huge amount but I’d have to try to bang my elbow and could easily sit with all the space I’d possibly need.  The mandatory heated seats and steering wheel work just as effectively as in the Hyundai even with cloth trim.

There’s every chance they will drop in price, although there’s still the July issue to navigate.

Current favourite is the EV5 Air, especially if it can get nearer to parity with the EV3 GT Line S pricing.
