I have now a month left on my contract, and I am still undecided whether to go private or stick with Motability.

Just before Christmas I became the Appointee for my special needs daughter instead of my wife, who does not drive. It was recommended by DWP , and after a home visit the change happened. With the confirmation letter a Statement of Entitlement was included but it had my wife’s name at the top.
I spoke to PIP today to request another Statement of Entitlement with my name on it, which the Motability car dealer would need to copy if I continued with Motability.
I mentioned about purchasing a private car for the use of a disabled person, and how to apply for VED exemption. I was told I would need a Certificate of Entitlement but I could not have one while I had the Motability car.
So unless I a missing something, the private car would need to be registered and taxed as normal, then the class changed and apply for a VED refund once I got the Certificate of Exemption.

I have informed Motability that I am now the appointee, and they have amended the data at their end.

Just not sure about the best process for going from Motability car to a private car.
