      Good evening.

I have recently switched my energy provider from octopus to OVO around 2 weeks ago.

I was worried because I have been with Octopus for many years and I do not like change.

      I saw this offer:

Volkswagen Dealerships – Order an electric Volkswagen from a registered dealership and add Charge Anytime to your home OVO energy tariff to enjoy up to 30,000 free EV miles over 3 years (ends 30/9/2025

I got the VW and today OVO paid me £212.12 for my first 10,000 miles. If I stay with them for 3 years, I will receive 2 more yearly payments of £212.12!

So far the switch has been very easy. The customer service team are great. I am not looking for people to give my details so that I get a sign on fee. I am just letting electric car drivers know that there are better deals out there than Octopus. OVO offer the 7pKWH but their terms are different. OVO only allow 7p electric charging not 7pkwn for all energy used from 11.30pm to 5.30am, as Octopus do.

But hey if I stay for 3 years it’s £636.36 free! I also get 2 hours a week free electricity which starts for me on washing day Sunday.

OVO have also signed me up for a trial. As long as I put my car on charge 5 times a week plugged in for 6 hours or more. Then they will give me £3 per week! The trial lasts until the end of September. It’s feels like the gift that keeps on giving.

I think any VW group cars are entitled to the deal not just VW. Skoda, SEAT, Audi I think also get the deal but I am not certain.

I hope this has been a help to anyone getting their new VW by end of September.

      Rob

Hi Robb,  well done. I got an Enyaq in May and also switched my electric from Octopus to Ovo. I got the free money credit also.

You didn’t mention one great advantage with Ovo is, it’s charge anytime not just overnight. I’m sat here now whilst car is charging.

        Happy motoring.

        Regards, wonky

Not sure if this is relevant – but the partnership with OVO and ohme is ending – tho you can still use ohme app direct to car for most EVs – I did a trial with OVO and ohme for the Kona – just been put on the ohme crowd flex for the summer – have to plug car in for at least 6 hours to get low rate and rewards and they decide when to charge during that 6 hours – so I just plug in during the evening and overnight a couple of times a week.
