I can’t comment on the space for a wheelchair as I don’t have one, but the Tucson PHEV in Ultimate trim that I have is a very nice drive and upmarket place to be compared with older Hyundais. The Kia Sportage shares the same mechanicals as the Tucson, so I imagine is very similar but I haven’t driven it.

Seat Ateca has a very good size boot, or same car different brand are the VW Tiguan or Skoda Karoq.

If you need even more room there’s also the 7 seater version, with the rear 2 seats folded flat it’s a huge boot!, Seat Tarraco, VW Tiguan AllSpace or Skoda Kodiak.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

@mickyarmy. I have Tucson Phev Ultimate which I have had for 2 years and have been carrying around a wheelchair in the boot for my wife with room to spare for shopping and other items. As @MB5 says it is a lovely drive and very comfortable for me. In the 2 years I have had it I have been to Scotland and London numerous times as well as driving over to Wales.

Subaru is due to go live on the scheme iminantly.

Their Suv is the Forester, and their estate is the Outback.

Both very capable machines with good load capacity and permanent all wheel drive.

Packed with safety aids including the Subaru Eyesight system.

Worth a look at least, if budget allows.

If you like your SUV to handle well then Kuga is your answer.

I have a Tuscon Ultimate and the boot is big enough for a wheelchair and shopping. Kia Sportage isn’t a million miles away on boot space either.
