Looking for some advice and what you guys would do. I bought some shoes off a woman on Facebook about a month ago. Still haven’t arrived £90 and the woman isn’t getting back to me. I sent it through bank transfer with her name and her profile was real. Where should I go from here?

I’m not to sure, don’t do the Facesbook thing..

        any update of the situation..

My wife went to pay something with her phone, noticed a £871 pound request payment, she knew nothing of this…

She reported it, obviously didn’t pay, but she said she almost accepted it, due to other payments that day..

The request was from something called V vision I think..?

Talk to your bank and get them to cancel or re coup the payment. FB market place is full of scammers, so don’t use it.  Look fro terms and conditions on market place. See if you come up with some help. Also search for market place complaints. There are a few groups that may point you on how to deal with this issue.

          Good luck

I don’t think the bank will get involved if it was a bank transfer.

As Joss said, try going through Facebook.

Also, report it to Action-fraud online. If they’ve done it a few times others may have reported them and though you may not get your money back, the fraudster may get some comeuppance.

I think I can go one better, on the 12th of October I had fitted and paid over £4,400 for a Solax 5.8kWh solar battery, only to be told my warranty and guarantee is with the manufacture Solax not them, charming.

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

Unfortunately a bank transfer is the worst payment method in these situations.

Is this person still on Facebook. If so leave her some bad rep to warn others.

Its worth chasing it with your bank on the off cchance they will do something, but it unlikely.

This may seem daft but report it to your local police. They enjoy policing social media sites, as it easy for them to do from their chairs!

I wish you luck and hope you get your funds back 🙂

@Brad I have been doing some digging around re this matter.

Regarding your payment by bank transfer. How to get your money back after a scam. Scroll down to Bank transfer from the link above.

                      Bank Transfer:

A bank transfer scam, also known as an authorised push payment (APP) scam, occurs when you – knowingly or unwittingly – transfer money from your own bank account to one belonging to a scammer.

If you’ve been caught out by a complex and convincing scam which has resulted in you transferring your money into another bank account than you should contact your bank immediately.

Tell the bank what happened, and let them know the bank account number your money was sent to.

The bank can try and recover the funds once they are notified.

If your bank is signed up to the voluntary Authorised Push Payment Scam Code which launched in May 2019 it has to take a number of steps to protect their customers and reimburse customers who aren’t to blame.

Do you still build gaming pc’s, Joss? I’ve been looking at some online with a RTX 30-80 which looks really good. I think the glass type towers where you can see the lights and fans inside! Been looking at some for around £800

An RTX3080 graphics card on its own starts at £589.99 for a refurbished card on the Scan website:

                                https://www.scan.co.uk/shop/computer-hardware/gpu-nvidia-gaming/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-graphics-cards

To get an entire PC for £800 sounds very cheap, unless it’s pretty old but the 3080 didn’t even come out until January 2022, if I remember correctly.

@brad, please do not use glass/perspex computer cases. They may look pretty but they allow a great deal of RF leakage and interference.  Metal cases provide shielding.  Think of your neighbours!
