      Hi all

Just about to order my first Motability car and the RAV4 would be our ideal choice. Unfortunately the AP is too high right now.

As the official Motability site Search is clearly outdated (RAV4 isn’t even on there) does anyone know what other similarly sized vehicles are available as options?

      Thank you 🙂

As reported by WMC Forum in the ‘Car Numbers on the Motability Scheme’ thread, the RAV4 was removed from the scheme on 17th October 2021:

Although its search parameters are somewhat limited, the Motability website is the definitive list of the vehicles that are currently available on the scheme. Sometimes manufacturers and dealers do not update their websites and literature promptly in response to vehicles that have been ‘pulled’ from the scheme, hence having to rely on the Motability website.

FWIW, it is rumoured that the Rav4 may return to the scheme in Q1 2022 (ie sometime after 1st Jan 2022), however, particularly in the current vehicle supply situation, that is speculation only.

Perhaps if you can specify your requirements/needs – i.e. Internal Combustion Engine/PHEV/Hybrid/Electric, and whether you need a manual or automatic, max AP amount etc it may help others proffer more specific ideas as to which other SUV vehicles may be suitable, bearing in mind the limited number of vehicles currently available on the scheme.

Thank you for that. You’d have thought the dealer would have mentioned that last week! He’s obviously even more behind!

I do need an automatic and would prefer a hybrid but it isn’t really essential. I suspect the ch-r might be my best bet but I really would like to see what people think

Website ” automobilesdimensions.com” has a comparison tool and also suggests similar size cars to the one you put in. I’ve found it very useful

Looks like the MGs will be a good place to start.  Auto MG HS exclusive is only £850 in white or an extra £150 for any other colour. Top spec car with electric boot,  full length opening sunroof and full leather. 1.5 turbo petrol engine as well. For that money there is nothing else that big. Most APs have jumped massively since Q1 (January 1st) this year. For example our Ateca FR Sport went from £1099 on Dec 28th when we ordered up to £3199 now!!

Have a look at the Vauxhall Grandland, it’s new and is replacing the outgoing Grandland X, you can get a petrol or diesel automatic Elite trim for £1,449 AP or £250-300 more for the top trim Ultimate. They are not expected in the showrooms until January, according to my local dealer, though you can order one as a private buyer on line with an expected wait time of 29 weeks when I looked a couple of weeks ago.

Daughters motability car Vauxhall Grandland 1.5 diesel automatic Ultimate.
My car SEAT Ibiza SE Tec 1.2 petrol TSI 2017.

Been having a good look at this. Looks like a lovely car, exactly what we need really. Thanks!

Has anyone on here had the MG HS so far?

current car is a chr.. its a nice motor and although not as big as a rav, its a decent size. boot isnt huge(about 400 litres) but a hoist and a sooter can go in with one seat down.  if you broke a scooter down it would go in easy.

fuel economy is good. 50/60mpg. ap is a bit more now than it was tho but thats same everywhere.  its a nice car

Current Car: Hyundai Kona Premium EV...2 way 40kg hoist
Last Car: Toyota C-HR Excel Hybrid...4 way 80kg hoist

Just ordered a HS with a 100kg hiost, my adapter told me they had done loads of MG’s lately.

Had a good look at all the larger SUV avialable at the momment on the scheme and there is nothing that comes close to price and spec of the MG HS apart from the Grandland and S Cross at the moment its a pity the PHEV variant is no longer on the scheme.

Fit and finish are excellent for the price, the vehicle we drove was the auto which went well enough for most, handling was pleasant and while it didnt have the sharp handling of a Kuga I found it a lot better than the wallowing Aircross.

MPG figures qouted are on the low side compared to other SUV on the scheme however you have to put this against the ‘low’ AP, I have read a few reports in regard to reliability but to be honest over the years I have had Alfa’s and Citroens both of which had bed repuatations at the time and were perfectly fine as well as having a BMW which was a dog so I will take my chance with the MG at least if it is of the road MB will supply you a replacement vehicle.
