Thank you for any assistance in advance.
I took my vehicle to Kwik Fit due to damage to one tyre that they decided the one tyre needed replacing. Long story short they dragged the replacement on for hours stating they needed authorisation and were arguing with motability about the repair. In the end they changed all four tyres for new. The car is just over one year old and has not done 7000 miles yet.
Was just wondering if this was normal practice as seems quite a waste of time and money. All other tyres were in excellent condition. They couldn’t give a reason for changing all fours. I expected one tyre but returned to Kwik Fit to see my car up on the ramp with no tyres on. The vehicle was on the ramp for three hours before they started replacing the tyres.

They allegedly replaced a tyre due to a puncture, had the replacement approved by Motability and got MrsW to sign something. When I examined the car it was clear they had not replaced the tyre at all but had repaired it. Motability weren’t interested, saying they did not lose because Motability are paid a fixed price to look after the tyres. Kwikfit management were also uninterested. Someone, somewhere gained the price of a new tyre.
I’m surprised you couldn’t get a reason why they replaced them all, Jarden, but if they weren’t faulty, someone, somewhere now has three slightly worn tyres.
What I find annoying is any work done on our cars be it tyres, engine, light bulbs etc. is we never get a copy of any work done on the car so just like mushrooms, kept in the dark.
If there’s something we’re not happy with the car and approach the Motability contractors there is no record of our concerns.
Scenario? I go to the dealer and tell them my car is using a lot of engine oil, dealer tops up engine and tells me nothing wrong and I’m on my way but two days later the engine seizes up due to lack of oil.
Guess who would be to blame for that scenario, yep, its we the mushrooms.
Guess who is going to get the mud on there shirt for four new tyres on a 1 year old car?

surprised you don’t get any paperwork yes with Kwik fit no paperwork. But whenever in garage with bmw always paperwork with the costs involved. Recently had a bulb changed and new wipers was left a receipt in the car of the costs and what was done same with service paperwork and a video emailed of the inspection.Hi surprised you don’t get any paperwork yes with Kwik fit no paperwork. I used to get an invoice on my VAG cars but I have a KIA now and just get a tick box check sheet for the servicing work. I assume because the car is under warrantee there is no bills. ?♂️

I can only tell of my own experiences of my local Kwik fit. I use Shipley, West Yorks, if they are busy I can indeed be sat around for an hour or two, but they do keep me going in coffee. If they can’t get the tyre I once went to another local branch to get it rather than wait all day for their van to deliver, problem sorted. My first mutability had a rash of punctures afters years of never getting them. The guys and ladies of Shipley have always been good with me, cracked on and I have always been able to book an appointment no problems. I got 4 brand new tyres for my mx5 fitted, balanced, tracking done and old tyres disposed of for £200 before I was disabled around 2009?

I wouldn’t let Kwik Fit anywhere near the tracking on my MX-5. There can be a number of causes of an apparent tracking error on an MX-5 which needs a wheel alignment machine Kwik Fit don’t have .
Wigwam yes , i know better now, unfortunately I no longer have my mx5. My days of getting underneath and into the engine bay are well and truly over!
