Hi everyone for what it worth I changed my Toyota chr hybrid in feb this year after three faultless years the chr was excellent, well put together quiet and smooth, but in all fairness over the three years the MPG was 46-47 which I was pleased with.50 mpg was regularly achieved but motorway or fast roads then much less .at the time everyone I talked to said “don’t touch the cvt gearbox “ but without doubt the smoothest gearbox I have ever used
I have the C-HR with the CVT gearbox. I have had many automatics over the years and I agree entirely; Toyota lead the world in CVT transmission technology. Most of the people that knock them have never driven a Toyota who use their own system. Take Nissan for example. Their awful CVT’s are made by Jatco who also make them for other car makers. They whine & drone constantly – unlike Toyota. You soon get used to how to drive a CVT vehicle properly.
I am due to change my C-HR in a few months time & top of my list is the new 2.0 Corolla GR Sport. Yes it has less room in the boot than the 1.8 due to battery storage – but I don’t need the extra space. With a 0-60 time of 7.9 seconds – it doesn’t hang around either for a CVT! To be exact, Toyota’s new eCVT has an actual ‘real’ first gear which helps launch it. Throw in 50 mpg (probably nearer 42/44 mpg in the real world) and what’s not to like! No car out there has comfier seats either. Last but not least – just look at it!!! 😉
