Went out to my car earlier and discovered a completely flat rear tyre.Rang kwik fit mobile service and was informed the first available appointment was Saturday between 8.30 a.m.and 8.30 pm, nice eh! That was it,no other advice given like ring RAC or whatever. Not to be deterred I rang Motability who took all the relevant details and put me through to RAC Motability. Result!! RAC will be with me within an hour and will attempt a repair if possible,if not they will take my car (and me) to the nearest kwikfit to get it sorted this very day. Not at all impressed with kwikfit mobile service,I mean they know we’re all not in a position to get out with no transport and were pretty blasé about me having to wait between 48-60 hours to get me mobile again.
So,if this situation crops up for anyone else, which it most probably will, then get on to Motability they will sort it pronto for you.

Why phone motability before the RAC…
February 13, 2020 at 2:54 pm #106465Mike
On the Motability website it does explain that the Kwikfit mobile service is for advance booked appointments only. They are not a response service to repair punctures.

The RAC should have been your first point of call.
February 13, 2020 at 2:54 pm #106466I had a flat tyre recently, never even crossed my mind to phone Kwik Fit first.
I contacted RAC and they prioritised the call, next available mobile patrol came to me, was there in 25 minutes.
They put one of these new rubber plugs in the tyre and told me to go to Kwik Fit the next day for them to sort it.
was excellent service

Agree with Mike. Always ring RAC first as if they cannot repair they will get you to a KwikFit

The last time I used kwikfit they advised me to use their mobile service as it was much more convenient for disabled people to get a tyre repaired/changed.The reason I rang them first is because they had actually touted the service to me.Go figure.

Big difference between convenience and emergency help Mike RAC for immediate response.
Kwikfit for a repair that may suit your convenience
All explained in your booklet when you collect your car

Trying to get ho;ld of someone is a joke on a sunday ..my best advice is to not get a flat tyre on a Sunday..they all supply a poor service for disabled people who have a mobility vehicle
going to buy own Breakdown cover .cant waste 5 hrs trying to get a tyre fitting or someone to book a appointment

We had Kwik fit out three times (rural and low profile tyres don’t mix well apparently) – every single time they came out within 24 hours. Not on the day, admittedly, but always the next day before 1pm, and were done within an hour. Once repaired, twice replaced (through the sidewall).
I genuinely can’t complain, the guys that came out were nice too and were efficient/quick, even thought about re-setting the TPS (not a big step for us to do anyway, but nice that they did it).
November 2, 2021 at 10:22 am #168119When i had a flat battery i asked motability can i use the manufacturer’s warranty call out and said i could so you have more choice’s if anything happens and you are not happy.
November 3, 2021 at 12:27 am #168193I’ve used Kwik Fit mobile a couple of times over the last couple of cars , last time was a few months back to replace all 4 tyres
When I called to book it the next apt was 9am 2 days later
I know I could have called RAC to take me to the nearest branch etc but the thought of sitting there for hours while they change 4 tyres would have sent my anxiety in Over Drive and the chances of them having the exact same make, size and type of tyre that I have on my car ( OCD ) would be slim
So having the guy turn up with the 4 tyres and taking as long as he needed whilst i was at home was absolutely perfect for me
technician was super polite , clean and absolutely spot on, in little over an hour all 4 tyres were replaced and he cleaned all 4 alloys , none of that horrible gunky residue left over
Obviously my circumstances and exciting life meant I could wait those 2 days without using the car , but if yours do too then I’d highly recommend the KF mobile option to save all the faffing about and having waste hours in a generally manky KF branch

Well, i have had an issue with my tyre keep losing pressure (in-car advisor telling me) but i am not sure if someone is letting my tyre down or if there is an issue. It has been about 25% down on pressure compared t0 what it should be, so i managed – although i have tried before to get KWIK FIT to look at it. I have had my Son putting air in the tyre, but this morning my pressure was only 95psi (should be 190-200)S, dangerously low. o i went to my local KWIK FIT. I told them i was a Motability customer, and the problem and he just said “sorry we are fully booked i cannot help you”. I explained my situation again, being miles from home but nothing doing, not even air in my tyre (as inflator not in the car for some reason). Motability use one company for the tyres, but they cannot help when needed – even in an emergency…..

95psi? 190-200? Those pressures are insanely high. 190-200psi is a dangerous pressure to inflate car tyres to. 95psi is bad enough!
What vehicle are you driving? A combi tractor?
I would double check your owners manual as:
February 13, 2022 at 11:09 am #177124Calm down BigDave. I think he is quoting kpa, not psi. The proper pressure for any car is on the door sticker, usually quoted in psi and kpa.

But he quoted 95psi in his post!
”but this morning my pressure was only 95psi (should be 190-200)”
If he is getting psi and kpa mixed up, then he really needs to have his tyres checked properly.
February 13, 2022 at 11:23 am #177128Yes but I think he means 95kpa which is about 14psi. He may be reading the wrong scale on a pressure gauge.
I doubt any tyre pump would be able to put 200psi into a tyre and the tyre would probably blow out if it did!

Wouldn’t you say 14psi is too low for most vehicles?
Incdientally our compressor and air line/guage on the farm goes upto 250psi – okay it is an industrial one for the farm, but we don’t know what the OP is using to pump up his tyres, but yes I agree there should be a very loud bang and potentially bits of rubber flying off before even getting close to 200psi!

I had RAC out to inflate the flat tyre on the car. Just went to take said car to Kwik Fit as its just up the road & tyre is flat. Rang to see if mobile service could possibly come out tomorrow. Next appointment is FRIDAY! The person I spoke to clearly did not listen to me when I said ‘I cannot drive my car to Kwik Fit as my tyre is flat again & the RAC have already been out!’ As he asked me if the car was able to be driven to the local Kwik Fit just over a mile away! If that was the case I wouldn’t be ringing would I? Plus I’d already said that I couldn’t. He also expected a disabled person to give him the full tyre size. Not everyone is able to do this. So please be aware if you do ring them they will expect you to provide these details too.
I now have to ring the RAC again tomorrow to get them to come out again to possibly take me & the car to Kwik Fit! Why is it so frustrating? Why do they not give you a spare wheel anymore? It’s not rocket science is it?!
February 20, 2022 at 4:34 pm #178127If the tyre only has a small puncture, from a nail for instance, you
can use the temporary tyre repair kit so that you can drive to the nearest kwik fit. - AuthorReplies
