Yeah I know it’s nice but can be inconvenient….they have a policy of using garages here they can come pick it up too they said or recover it.

Plus if it’s anything major and gunna take a long time to fix motability said I would get another car.

      But then again let’s see!!

        Update:

So the cars have now dropped in price…. would only be £146 top up however still no joy

After not phoning me on 13th or 14th I finally got to speak to my case manager (last time was 18th December and was rushed off phone after awarding the gran

Anyway here’s what was said to be honest she was very off hand abrupt and tbh quite nasty on the phone

The grant was staying the same as a 4×4 due to terrain in my area is not deemed as worthy we have tarmac hardly any hills and people in my area don’t order 4×4 statistically only front and back wheel driv

I stated that the a83/a82 is the most dangerous road in Scotland as reported by Scottish government newspapers etc. Where I live is not tarmac perse but asphalt with pot holes filled with chippings as it is not well maintained at all. As for the hills we’ll there are quite bad ones and that don’t include the trossachs(rest and be thankful) with landslides flooding and it’s only one road in one road out. Most people live in a town and are elderly so no they don’t bleed a 4×4 as they are only going into town I have to go to hospitals for specific treatments every 8 weeks.

Her response well I deem you don’t need o

What was the reasons for declining the three cars we offered in first plac

Because they wasn’t suitable was a medium suv not a large like you said and the cheapest large suv is the one I have chos

Her response it’s a large by our standards (it clearly states on motability that it’s a medium and by dealership/manufacturer) well we don’t go by that we go by our measurements only

More cars are now available for you to look at within the price range we have given y

These wasn’t available at the time of me looking for a car they gave me 3 cars all petrol all unsuitable and now they want to change the goal posts because of price changes brought out in January. Although they now understand about a petrol hybrid so at least that’s now changed

Her answer was but now u can go see them. Make a choice of which of those are suitab

I’m over 200 miles away from any dealers it’s 3 and a half hours to Glasgow from me to even see a car. Takes alot of planning and I’ve already told you the others wasn’t suitable. Is a wasted journey as I have seen most you have offered when first looking before the grant was even place

She started to get shirty and stated in a way well it’s that or nothi

At this point I told her I want to complain and what a change she started shouting at me I said I am not shouting at you don’t shout at me. She then proceeded to tell me to complain because they are a charity. Only thing I can think she meant by this was because they are a charity it wouldn’t go No where or lead to anything

I said goodbye and rung motability who although are nice have no idea about any of this or about grant policies. (They okay the vehicle but shouldn’t have due to extra payment) Which seen though they are under the umbrella of motability foundation surely they should have some incite…they couldn’t hel

So now I have to wait another 30 days for the complaints team to investigate and make a decision…. so up to press nearly 5 months and no car all over what is now £146..

They say they are there to help for your needs for disabled people all they have done is helped with increasing anxiety and hassle that I don’t need.

This is ridiculous from a charity to “help” people

          Thanks for the reply @kezo

I tried that yesterday about the 4×4 awd thing and they stated that that wasn’t why they give me the grant. They gave me it because of i needed a powered tail gate …funny that cos they didn’t know that til hours before they approved the grant. They knew i was approved just needed to know if they had to increase it for a powered tail gate.

Yeah they are a law to their own. Next they will be saying a minu is an estate vehicle in their eyes 🤣🤣

Best part now is the car has come down in price with 1st January change so ….

            Update:

You can only use the £750 ncp only and can’t top up anything at all.

Excuse of that it isn’t fair that someone who has no money can’t have the access to higher cars but I could.

Also they haven’t gone for the 4×4 option but based the grant on a power tail gate only even though a 4×4 is needed and they won’t give a hybrid as it costs more than a petrol even though it only gives the three options they have given that are unsuitable.

Also they don’t go on a large suv that is said on motability or by dealership specifications but go by their own measurements only so it doesn’t matter on what it is specified or classed as because they have the last say with their own measurements.
