The windscreen wipers on my Tiguan drive me up the wall. No matter what I try, they constantly squeak, especially on the tailgate.
Anyone got any tips to stop it happening?

January 14, 2021 at 10:07 pm #136325well with covid rife you may well have the remedy to hand and already in the car.
clean the blades with Alcohol wipes or rub Alcohol gel down the blade. also consider cleaning the screens of unseen dirt/film with baking soda on a damp cloth

January 15, 2021 at 12:29 am #136347Ateca (basically the same car) wipers are exactly the same.
The only way to cure them is to fit better quality ones, Bosch wipers get excellent reviews on the Ateca forums, no noise and do a better job of water removal.
Bit expensive but I suppose you get whet you pay for!.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
January 15, 2021 at 8:18 am #136356My Tiggy has been like that since day 1 especially the back one. Had 2 safety checks, a service and just had an MOT and it still makes an awful noise when it sweeps despite been changed.

January 15, 2021 at 9:22 am #136376Sometimes the problem is the angle of the blade stopping it from turning over properly at the end of the stroke. A bit of judicious bending of the wiper arm works, but back ones these days seem to be shrouded making it harder to adjust.

Belfast4White vinegar is an excellent cleaner, will give tiles or glass a brilliant shine.
January 16, 2021 at 11:39 am #136601Have you tried “RainX” I used to use it but when it became more popular they started to put the price up, like they do.
January 16, 2021 at 4:55 pm #136633I used RainX and found it to be an excellent product. But as ChrisK said price went up. However It does work very well.
Just done a quick search and found that Aldi are doing a 200ml bottle for £3.99. I shall be having a couple of bottles of that my sell.

Lets get OrganisedHi Dougie B
I also have a Tiguan and the same thing happened to me I think some of it can be attributed to the fact I had the car set to wipe the rear window when reverse gear was selected which results in a dry blade wiping a dry rear screen this so Vw replaced the wiper and gave me some VW screen wash and the dreaded scraping sound has gone I changed the setting so that it doesn’t automatically wipe when in reverse which hopefully has cured the problem
Hope this helps
January 17, 2021 at 9:06 am #136667Yes I changed that setting on my Golf
